a tapestry of prayer

Weird confession time... i pray for every siren i hear. i'm really bad at knowing which kind of siren is which but my basic prayer every time is that God would give the people in that vehicle clarity of what they need to do, steady hands and that they would get to their destination in time. It started a while back when i worked in my city's public library because i heard so many sirens with it being close to downtown.

Every once in a while i find myself reminded of the power of prayer. Throughout the New Testament there are countless examples of God's people asking God to show up, and He does! i love it! This past week, however, i was reminded that the power of prayer is still there even when i cannot see it working. God is still working through my prayers even if i don't see them answered - to be honest, i've probably prayed for over 1000 sirens and i've never seen the results of those prayers. God hears every one of them, though, and i can have confidence because of who i know Him to be, that He is working through those prayers.

Even when it seems like there aren't answers or when it seems like a hopeless prayer that won't get answered, God is listening and He is working in the details of every life here on Earth - i am confident that this is true. When i picture heaven, i think of a tapestry. The front of the tapestry is this beautiful, well-composed picture (that's the side we'll see from heaven), but the back side is the side where the work happens. It is tangled, messy and doesn't always make sense, but that's because you can't see the full picture yet. God can, and He is using your prayers to create that beautiful picture regardless of how tangled they seem.
