willing to be in the will

i am a huge fan of the saying "fake it till you make it." i've written about how i applied it to contentment in this blog post and it's a sentence i've been coming back to a lot as i am reaching the end of my post-secondary career. i'm currently reading the book Restless by Jennie Allen. It's an amazing book that strives to pull together the threads of passion that God has placed in your heart and apply them to where you are called career-wise, life-wise etc. On page 122, Jennie writes: "You'll remember that though we may not know God's specific, detailed will for us, 99 percent of being in the will of God is being wholly willing to be in the will of God." It took me a few read throughs to fully grasp what she was saying but when i got it i was struck by how profound but how simple the statement was. It's not about knowing God's plans, it's being willing to have God guide your plans. It's not about being 100% confident that you know what your next step is; it's about being 100% confident that God's got your back and won't let you fall.

You don't have to know what God's will is for you life (as scary as that is) but you have to be willing to rest in His will, whatever that may be.

As i was about to publish this article, i realized that there's a post that i wrote a few years back (and re-published here) that included this same quote... it's funny how God can re-speak to you through the same words!
